How to Choose a Low-Impact Sports Bra

Low-impact doesn't mean under-supported. A short guide to the bras that hold you through Pilates, yoga and barre without overpromising.
Low-impact training, Pilates, yoga, barre, stretching, is easy to under-support or over-engineer. A bra that compresses too hard makes slow breathwork harder than it needs to be; a bra with no structure leaves you adjusting between poses. The right piece holds without declaring itself.
Check the band first
The band is where 80% of the support comes from. Too loose, and the straps take over and bite into the shoulders. Too tight, and you'll feel it in your ribs by minute thirty. Two fingers should slip under the band with slight resistance.
Choose support level by session, not cup size
Medium support is almost always enough for low-impact work, even for fuller cup sizes. High-support constructions are engineered for jump-heavy training and tend to over-restrict breath when you don't need them.
Look at the fabric, not the branding
Premium low-impact bras almost always use a soft, matte nylon-Elastane fabric. If the surface is shiny, the Elastane content is often low, which shows up as loss of shape within a few months.
